Converged Networks project approved by EPSRC

COALESCE is a newly funded research project about interconnected testbeds for converged optical and wireless networks. It will create a physical network to interconnect existing test-beds at the different universities, using NDFIS

The project has been awarded 1.4 million pounds by EPSRC. It is led by Dr Martyn Fice at UCL and is collaboration among the Universities of Cambridge, Southampton, Oxford and UCL.

This will foster collaboration between the groups with their complementary expertise and encourage cross-fertilisation of ideas, with the aim of finding optimal solutions for different wireless access scenarios. We expect the COALESCE findings will provide some solutions to the existing challenges in the disjoint optical backbones and ‘last mile’ wireless networks.
